Oseltamivir works by preventing the spread of flu virus inside the body and eases the symptoms of flu virus infection. NATFLU 75MG is not a vaccine. It only treats and prevents flu infection. This medicine can be taken with or without meals. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, weight and health condition.

Patients (especially children and adolescents) taking NATFLU 75MG should be closely monitored for any behavioural changes such as abnormal behavior, delusions, hallucinations, agitation, anxiety or nightmares and should report to the doctor immediately in case of fatal outcomes. Other common side effects are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, stomach upset and headache. These side effects are usually temporary and will resolve as the treatment continues.

Take NATFLU 75MG as directed by your physician. Take it as soon as possible, ideally within 2 days of flu symptoms. It can be taken with or without meals. Swallow the medicine as whole with a glass of water. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have a weak immune system or heart or kidney problems. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you must tell your doctor, so that your doctor can decide whether this medicine is right for you or not.

HOW NATFLU 75MG WORKS

Oseltamivir is a specific neuraminidase inhibitor. It works by preventing the spread of virus inside the human body by inhibiting viral neuraminidases, which is responsible for the entry of newly synthesized virus particles into infected cells, and for the further spread of infections. It reduces viral shedding and infectivity and eases the symptoms of influenza infection.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take this medicine as directed by your physician. Take it as soon as possible, ideally within 2 days of flu symptoms. It can be taken with or without meals. Swallow the medicine as whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, weight and health condition. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results.

SIDE EFFECTS OF NATFLU 75MG

SERIOUS

        Serious allergic reaction (such as itchy rashes, severe inflammation of outer and inner skin, initially with fever, sore throat, and fatigue, skin rashes, leading to blisters, peeling and shedding of larger areas of skin, swelling of skin and face, head and neck area, including eyes and tongue, low blood pressure and breathing difficulties)

        Signs of liver dysfunction (such as yellowing of skin and eyes, changes in stool colour, changes in behavior)

        Signs of GI bleeding (spitting up blood or prolonged bleeding from large bowel)

        Neuropsychiatric disorder (such as convulsions, delirium, altered level of consciousness, confusion, abnormal behavior, delusions, hallucinations, agitation, anxiety or nightmares)

        Tiredness or dizziness

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea or vomiting:

Try taking this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. You can eat and drink slowly or have smaller and frequent meals. Keeping a heat pad on your stomach may also help. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.

Headache:  

Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Do not drink too much alcohol.

PREGNANCY

NATFLU 75MG is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

BREASTFEEDING

NATFLU 75MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

ALCOHOL

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine.

KIDNEY

Before taking NATFLU 75MG inform your doctor if you have any kidney problems. Your doctor will decide a suitable dose for you depending upon your condition.

ALLERGY

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to oseltamivir or any other ingredients in this medicine.

LUNGS

NATFLU 75MG should be taken with caution in patients with chronic respiratory disease. Consult your doctor for advice before taking.

HEART DISEASE

NATFLU 75MG should be taken with caution in patients with chronic heart disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor, if you have any severe medical condition, which requires immediate hospitalization or if you have a weak immune system.

INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor, if you are taking,

        Chlorpropamide (a medicine used to treat diabetes)

        Methotrexate (used to treat rheumatoid arthritis)

        Phenylbutazone (used to treat pain and inflammation)

        Probenecid (a medicine used to treat gout)
